Apple prides itself on being environmentally focused and is continuously working to reduce its environmental footprint. According to Apple’s 2018 Environment Responsibility Report released today, the company is focusing on climate change, resources, and safer materials. The biggest stride from over the past year is that Apple now runs all of its operations on 100 percent renewable energy. The company says that it uses a combination of renewable resources including solar and wind to reduce its footprint....

Apple’s Irish campus in Cork is celebrating its 40th birthday, after first opening in 1980 as a single manufacturing facility with just 60 employees. Since then, the campus has grown in size, role, and controversy … Some employees have been there for more than 30 of the facility’s 40 years. Fast-forward to today, and Ireland is home to more than 6,000 Apple employees and a sprawling campus in the city of Cork....

Image via Jon Brodkin Tomorrow will mark three months since the launch of iOS 8.4 and Apple Music, and this means that the first free trial sign-ups will begin expiring. In its latest push to retain users, Apple has begun emailing users with set-to-expire trials as well as pushing notifications to their devices. As can be seen in the image above, the notification encourages users to renew. As we learned in the summer, users who do not manually end their free trial with Apple Music will be automatically opted into continuing their subscription for either $9....

Apple shareholders are the latest to jump into the fray of a lawsuit against Apple over its anti-poaching agreements with a number of other tech companies. As we’ve previously reported, Apple, Google, Intel, Adobe, and a laundry list of other companies allegedly created illegal pacts to avoid hiring each others’ engineers, allowing each employer to keep its wages low without running the risk of a competitor snatching up its competition with a better deal....

As it usually does, Apple showcased a handful of videos during its keynote address at WWDC earlier today and now the company has uploaded the videos to YouTube, including product videos for the HomePod, new iPad Pro, and new iMac Pro… Apple today made a handful of announcements, including a few new hardware products. The company also opened its keynote address with a humorous video imagining an app apocalypse. On YouTube, there are a pair of videos teasing the upcoming iMac Pro, which will be released in December starting at $4999....

Apple has been slammed by Chinese environmental campaigners, who have ranked it last among 29 tech firms in terms of “responsiveness and transparency to health and environmental concerns” in China. The Institute of Environmental and Public Affairs (IPE) said Apple had refused to confirm if suspected polluters were among the suppliers it used, and is also accused of avoiding taking responsibility for environmental problems associated with its products. Apple counters that it has an extensive accreditation scheme for its suppliers and that it has a host of environmental information carried on its website....

Apple puts a big emphasis on the accessibility of its products, ranging from iPhone and Apple Watch to AirPods and more. In a new interview, Sarah Herrlinger, Apple’s global head of accessibility, offers more details about Apple’s focus on accessibility. Speaking to the Evening Standard, Herrlinger explained that Apple’s central goal is to level the playing field and give everyone the ability to be productive members of society. When it comes to developing new accessibility features, Herrlinger said that one of key resources for Apple is emails from customers....

After launching a new Pro Apps Bundle earlier this month that includes Final Cut Pro, Logic Pro X, and Apple’s other pro apps at a discounted price for education customers, the offer is now available in additional countries outside of the US. Apple confirmed on Twitter that the Pro Apps Bundle is now available in 35 countries after initially launching in the US late last week. The bundle, which offers 5 apps in total for quite a significant discount, appears to be available in most markets where Apple runs an education discount program with some of the notable larger markets including Canada, Australia, China, Japan, the UK, and South Korea....

Now Apple is out with the latest addition highlighting Apple Pencil. The new ad spot highlights how users can rely on the iPad Pro and Apple Pencil to easily sign and send off PDF files with handwritten signatures to avoid printing completely....

Apple’s plan to ramp up AirPods production could be delayed due to the coronavirus outbreak. Nikkei Asian Review reports today that Apple’s three primary AirPods manufacturers, Luxshare, Goertek, and Inventec, have all halted AirPods production. The coronavirus outbreak has forced suppliers in China to halt production, but even if work resumes on Monday as planned, sources told Nikkei that there will be a shortage of components. The three AirPods assemblers are scheduled to resume work on Monday, but “production utilization rates may reach just 50% at best in the first week given the current conditions,” the report says....

Titled Holiday cheer, winter landscapes and more, the new collection of images highlights impressive seasonal shots from iPhone XR and XS users from around the world. As we reported earlier this month, Apple today has updated its online website with deeper integration with its appointment scheduling services for the Genius Bar and in-store workshops. This change comes not far after the Apple Online Store was heavily integrated throughout the entire online site, continuing Apple’s efforts to consolidate its physical retail stores, online store, and main website. Apple’s combined appointment scheduling service is being referred to as the “Concierge” and is deeply integrated into individual Apple Retail Store pages with today’s update, versus it previously being its own website....

As noted by MacRumors, Apple has removed its recent Genius-related TV ads from both its website and YouTube channel. The ads have been the source of controversy due to their departure from Apple’s past ad campaigns. The ads stopped airing on television earlier this month. Speaking of Geniuses, Gizmodo has some confessions from Geniuses at “the most corrupt Apple Stores in America” which reads more like a “Fear and Loathing at the Apple Store”....

Apple has shared its heartfelt holiday ad on YouTube today. This year’s release follows a family as they deal with the loss of their grandma/mother and the creative way that the grandkids show love and appreciation for their grandpa as he remembers his wife with the help of iPad. In keeping with tradition, Apple has shared its longer-form holiday ad, this year called “The Surprise.” The story follows a family through the hustle and bustle of holiday travel to grandpa’s house....

On the heels of last week’s release of iOS 11.4.1, Apple today has stopped signing iOS 11.4. This means that users are no longer able to downgrade to the previous version of iOS, whether it be for a jailbreak or other reasons… Apple released iOS 11.4.1 to the public last week, and while it’s not a major release, it does include its fair share of bug fixes and performance improvements....

Apple’s agreement to put $200M into the bailout of supplier Japan Display has reassured other investors, and resulted in a new $830 investment from an asset manager, helping the company’s move into making OLED screens for the Apple Watch… Reuters reports. Japan Display currently makes the screens of the LCD model iPhone 11 and is about to begin production of OLED screens for the Apple Watch, alongside existing supplier LG....

Apple has updated its iPhone case lineup to match the physical changes needed to fit the new iPhone 7 and iPhone 7 Plus like a glove. It’s also updated its leather cases with a brand new subtle detail — machined aluminum Sleep and volume buttons. It’s a small detail, but the presence of aluminum buttons should make a noticeable difference from a tactile perspective. One of my biggest complaints with previous iPhone leather cases was that the buttons were too difficult to press due to the inflexibility of the leather....

Apple CEO Tim Cook’s much hyped NBC interview is set to air tonight at 10 p.m. EST, but we are already learning much of what will be discussed during the conversation that took place in, among other places, Apple’s Grand Central retail store location in New York. Earlier today, a profile from Bloomberg revealed Cook’s plans to bring at least some production of the Mac back to the United States in 2013, but he also hinted that the company has big plans for a next-generation Apple TV product....

A lot has been made about what sort of wireless charging system the iPhone 8 will feature, but according to JPMorgan analyst Harlan Sur, Apple has been working with Broadcom on a new customized solution. As noted by CNBC, Sur says that Apple has been working on the solution with Broadcom for some two years. One thing Sur notes is that the iPhone 8 will adopt a glass back, as has been rumored numerous times before....

Apple has announced this evening that its fiscal fourth quarter earnings call will take place on Tuesday, October 27th at 2PM PT/5PM ET, with the earnings release dropping roughly thirty minutes before that. The call will report earnings for the three month period ending this month. Last quarter, Apple announced profit of $10.7 billion off of revenue of $49 billion. Last quarter was the first period that included Apple Watch sales, while Apple did not specify what portion of its earnings came from the device....
