After releasing 12D74 late last month, Apple released OS X 10.8.3 build 12D76 to developers today with no major changes. Apple isn’t listing any known issues, and the company once again asked developers to focus on AirPlay, AirPort, Game Center, Graphics Drivers, and Safari. Update: As noted by MacRumors, build 12D76 appears to include support for NVIDIA’s Quadro K5000 graphics card that the company announced for the Mac Pro in September but is yet to ship....

Today, Apple seeded a new beta build of OS X 10.7.5 to developers, as noted by MacRumors. The new build number is 11G36 and it comes in both delta and combo-update configurations. Apple’s previous 10.7.5 beta came in at build 11G30 in late July. The small increase in builds from the last seed to today’s seed means that Apple is close to reaching the end of the development cycle. Apple says that no known issues are present in the build, and developers should focus on graphics and media....

Apple this evening has uploaded four new iPhone how-to videos on its YouTube channel. These videos cover choosing a Key Photo in Live Photos, Depth Control, searching in the Photos app, and more. Some Mac users, specifically those with Macs that don’t support Bluetooth LE, weren’t too happy to find out that meant they would likely not get to use Apple’s new Handoff feature to seamlessly switch between apps across Macs and iOS devices. To be clear, Apple has not yet confirmed details of device compatibility for most Yosemite features, but some users have reported that only Mid 2011 MacBook Airs, Mid 2012 MacBook Pros, late 2012 iMacs, and 2013 Mac Pro or newer models– the Macs that include Bluetooth LE– appear to support the feature....

The Apple Research app has received an update today that brings two notable changes with one of them being focused on taking into account how the COVID-19 pandemic is affecting daily life for those in the Apple Heart and Movement Study. Apple launched its Research app back in November last year for those in the US. Three studies were made available to participate in to advance important health research: Apple Hearing Study, Apple Heart and Movement Study, and the Apple Women’s Health Study....

Apple announced two new iPads this morning, finally updating the iPad mini and bridging the gap between its entry-level and high-end models with a new iPad Air. For the first time, both new product lines gain Apple Pencil support, while also being the first new models since the sixth-generation 2018 iPad to feature Logitech Crayon support. The Logitech Crayon is an alternative to the Apple Pencil, which uses some of the same technology as Apple’s stylus and comes with tilt support, yet lacks pressure-sensitivity....

After reducing iPhone prices in China to help boost demand, Apple’s price cuts reportedly continue in India, with discounts on iPhone XR models totalling around 25%. Apple said during its most recent earnings report that it would be reducing iPhone prices in countries to compensate for shifting currency exchange rates … Reuters reports that the price has not yet changed on Apple’s website, but the lower price is being offered in authorized reseller stores....

Nearly one month after the initial seed, Apple has provided developers with a second beta release of the upcoming OS X 10.9.2. The new build is labeled as version 13C39, and it is available via both Software Update in the Mac App Store for those running the first beta and from Apple’s online developer portal. The first 10.9.2 seed added enhancements to both the Messages and FaceTime applications, allowing for FaceTime Audio calls....

Apple has shared a new video on its YouTube channel this evening featuring director Jia Zhangke talking about Smart HDR. Last month, Apple shared a Shot on iPhone video directed by Zhangke in celebration of Chinese New Year. Today’s video highlights Smart HDR, with Zhangke explaining how the feature is helpful in capturing details in highlights and shadows. Last week, Apple announced that its Q4 2016 earnings call would take place on Thursday, October 27th. Today, however, Apple updated its Investor News webpage to reveal that, due to a “scheduling conflict,” the earnings call and release have been moved up to Tuesday, October 25th. It’s unclear what has arisen to cause Apple to move the date of its earnings release. This isn’t the first time the company has done so, though....

After carriers and retailers dropped the price of the iPhone in recent weeks ahead of the sixth-generation iPhone launch, MacRumors found this morning that Apple retail stores were given the go-ahead to price match the iPhone to other outlets by as much as $49.01. Like most price-matching programs, customers will assumedly have to present proof of lower pricing before Apple takes the money off. The price matching looks to be only taking place in retail stores and not on Apple’s online store....

Despite announcing plans to buy Shazam last December, Apple still doesn’t own the music recognition service due to pending regulatory approval in Europe. With the deadline for an investigation into the acquisition set for September 4, Reuters is reporting that a decision in favor of Apple is likely. Citing anonymous sources, Reuters says the deal will likely be approved without conditions. The European Commission launched an ‘in-depth’ four month investigation into the proposed deal before allowing or blocking Apple’s takeover of Shazam back in April....

To better serve enterprise Apple , JumpCloud has introduce Zero-Touch deployment to its cloud directory and mobile device management solution. JumpCloud Zero-Touch deployment is an integration with Apple Business/School Manager and Apple’s Device Enrollment Program so when devices are shipped from Apple to a customer, they will automatically configure themselves according to company policy when they connect to the internet. Zero-Touch deployment is crucial for organizations that are using remote work so IT departments can “drop ship” laptops from Apple to employees without needing to unbox and image them beforehand....

One of the headlining aspects of Apple Music when it launched in 2015 was its three-month free trial, allowing users a lengthy amount of time to try the service before agreeing to subscribe. This week, however, Apple has seemingly stopped offering the three-month free trial in Australia, Spain, and Switzerland… As noted on each country’s Apple Music webpage, Apple is now charging a small fee for 3 months of Apple Music, apparently not offering any sort of free trial....

Last week Apple introduced a new watch face for Apple Watch called “Unity” for celebrating Black History Month. The face uses the same colors as the Pan-African flag and changes with your movement. Following the release of iOS 14.3 last month, Apple today stopped signing both iOS 14.2 and iOS 14.2.1 — which was only available for iPhone 12 models. That means users who have updated their devices to iOS 14.3 can no longer downgrade to iOS 14.2. Among all the changes of iOS 14.3, the most notable one is the addition of the ProRAW photo format for the iPhone 12 Pro and iPhone 12 Pro Max....

Apple today posted its earnings for the final quarter of 2012, which was ‘disappointingly’ one of the largest corporate earnings year in human history. The letdown caused many investors to panic as Apple clearly circles the drain in what will be the first step in a short road to the demise of the most valuable company in the world (if Exxon hasn’t indeed surpassed it tomorrow morning). Apple’s $13.1 billion in earnings this quarter was the fourth largest of all time according to the same metric....

Apple’s iAd system has won the scorn of Yahoo CEO, Carol Bartz, who told Reuters last night the ad system will “fall apart for them”. Bartz believes most advertisers will eventually reject Apple’s ad system because the company demands too much control over what advertisers do. “Advertisers are not going to have that type of control over them. Apple wants total control over those ads,” she said, though she conceded that Apple’s effort is “ok for experimentation....

Apple has shared a new video on its YouTube channel today promoting the Night mode feature on iPhone 11 and iPhone 11 Pro. In the video, Apple offers side-by-side comparisons of images taken with and without Night mode enabled. Cleverly set to the Smashing Pumpkins song “We Only Come Out At Night,” Apple’s video focuses on the dramatic effect Night mode can have on iPhone photography. Apple rarely makes side-by-side comparisons in its advertising, but this video is a clear exception....

Earlier this year, Apple proposed a new GPU on the Web Community Group to work towards more powerful graphics on the web. The WebGPU standard Apple proposed is much more object-oriented than WebGPU and allows developers to create and store objects that represent state. Additionally, it allows for objects that can process a broader set of commands. This reduces the work needed to perform during a drawing operation.
