New data from SensorTower today reveals 164 publishers generated their first million dollars in net revenue during 2018, an approximately 13% increase from 143 in 2017. The interesting data point arises when comparing to Google’s Play Store, who saw 71 publishers last year net one million dollars, and just 88 in 2018. Considering iOS accounts for less than a quarter of mobile operating systems globally with Android generally dominating the remainder, it’s further demonstration of how lucrative iOS app revenue is compared to Android....

Apple’s plan to sell used iPhones in India to bring new customers into the Apple ecosystem has met with strong opposition, reports Bloomberg. Apple has announced on their retail website that the company’s Southlake Town Square location in Southlake, Texas will close for renovations on March 4th. Today’s announcement follows the trend of retail renovations that first began in 2015, refreshing existing locations with the company’s modern store design. Apple has been moving at a rapid pace in 2018, announcing a new store closure every week for the past three weeks. Apple today published a press release reminding customers about iPad Pro, Apple TV, and M1 iMac pre-orders beginning tomorrow. Apple today has shared its latest advertisement for the fourth-gen Apple TV. This ad, entitled “The Kiss,” focuses on the Siri Remote that ships with the device. The ad is a one minute long spot and comes on the heels of Apple announcing its first original TV series. The ad features an appearance of HBO series Game of Thrones and shows using the Apple TV Siri Remote to do things like rewind content and find more content to watch....

Apple chipmaker TSMC says that while we’re expecting to see the first Apple Silicon Macs before the end of this year, there will be a big boost in production from the second half of 2021. Apple itself has said that it expects to complete the transition from Intel to ARM-based Macs within two years, but hasn’t given any indication on which models to expect when … Noted analyst Ming Chi Kuo is expecting the first Apple Silicon Macs to be the 13-inch MacBook Pro and a redesigned 24-inch iMac....

Following the recent attack by Chinese institutions on iCloud.com to attempt to steal account information, Apple has posted a new how-to article about verifying the page you visit when you type iCloud.com into your web browser is the genuine Apple site. The page doesn’t offer a fix per se, but walks through how to check the certificates of the page in Safari, Chrome and Firefox. In Safari, you can verify you are on the correct page by checking that the URL bar highlights green next to the words ‘Apple Inc’....

Apple is making significant progress on the site as the company wraps up demo and street utilities work and continues full force on building construction and additional earthwork scheduled to last into 2016. The man who was for seven years head of Apple’s Siri efforts has said that virtual assistants don’t deliver on their promise. Bill Stasior left Apple earlier this year, leaving the Siri team without a VP at the helm … He told Business Insider that no virtual assistant currently does what we really want them to. The big challenge, he says, is that human beings can ask any question, or give any instruction, using such a broad range of language....
