Following Apple flicking the on switch for iCloud’s implementation of Find my iPhone, multiple readers have let us know that Find my Mac is live as well within iCloud. The feature, as we revealed in February, is simply Find my iPhone for the Mac; hence the name Find my Mac. The user can turn the feature on in the iCloud control panel within system preferences and then their Macs will show up on iCloud....
Back in November, it was reported that Apple was working with film studio A24 to produce original movies. Now, Variety reports that the first initiative to come of that partnership is a feature film starring Bill Murray and Rashida Jones. The film is entitled “On the Rocks” and will mark the reunion of Sofia Coppola and Bill Murray, who previously worked together on the iconic film “Lost in Translation.” Rashida Jones of “The Office” and “Parks and Recreation” will also star in the film....
Apple TV 4 isn’t the only new hardware coming out of Cupertino today. Announced earlier this month, the new Beats Pill+ is now available to order for $229 in black or white finishes. The new portable Bluetooth speaker is the first new design to come out of Beats since Apple bought the headphones and speaker company last for $3 billion last year in part to use its Beats Music service as the foundation for Apple Music....
We first learned about Apple’s plans for a research and development center in Yokohama, Japan back in 2014, with the country’s prime minster saying that it would be “on par with Apple’s biggest R&D centers in Asia.” Construction was originally expected to be completed in 2016, but was delayed into 2017. Now, a new report from Macotakara claims that we’re nearing the March 2017 opening of the center… The report says that Apple’s R&D center in Japan will be its “first technical development site” in the area....
Angela Ahrendts’ move from Burberry to Apple in 2014 saw her make Fortune’s ‘Most Powerful Women in Business’ list for the first time, entering at #29. She’s been working her way up the list since, this year climbing to #13 … Ahrendts has this year climbed one place, from last year’s #14 ranking. Fortune noted that she was second on stage at this year’s keynote. Apple stores have offered free workshops for many years, but rebranding them as Today at Apple, and expanding the program, has turned them from a relatively well-kept secret into a key marketing initiative....
Following the release of iOS 13.6 to the public last week with Apple News+ Audio and Car Key, Apple today has stopped signing iOS 13.5.1. That means users can no longer downgrade from iOS 13.6 to iOS 13.5.1. Like other iOS updates, iOS 13.6 comes with several security enhancements by fixing different vulnerabilities. These security breaches can be used to access internal system files, which in some cases leads to the jailbreak process....

Apple’s lack of lobbying presence in Europe left in largely in the dark about the long-running investigation into its Irish tax arrangements, argues the WSJ. It has been ruled that Apple underpaid tax in Europe to the tune of €13B ($15B). The piece contrasts this with Google, which spent ‘at least’ €4.25M ($4.8M) in the same timeframe. Google says that the money has been spent trying to help Brussels understand what the company does and how it works....
. There is some backlash over Apple’s recent move to delist its products from the U.S. EPEAT Government standard for Green computers. Today, it was reported that San Francisco was no longer able to buy Apple computers because of the delisting, and many other education, government and other big business entities could theoretically follow suit. Apple today announced the third generation of its 7.9-inch tablet with the new iPad mini 3. Apple says the new iPad mini 3 will start at $399 and be available for pre-order starting tomorrow. Storage capacities start at 16GB with both WiFi-only and Cellular options available. The new iPad mini 3 will be available in space gray, silver, and gold (for the first time). While the iPad mini 3 doesn’t contain much aside from Touch ID and a gold option, the new lineup does contain a price change for the higher storage capacities as 32GB has dropped from the lineup....

Apple has released a new ad from the ‘Shot on iPhone’ collection featuring photos captured by customers, and this ad includes a familiar voice reading a famous poem over the slideshow. Dr. Maya Angelou is heard reading her ‘Human Family’ poem over shots of people all over the world. According to The Verge, Apple will begin airing this ad that debuted on the web today later tomorrow at the start of the Olympics....
Apple has updated its Podcasts app today with a number of new features. Among the most notable is the ability to create custom stations that update automatically as new episodes of podcasts are available. There are also a number of new enhancements for stations and playlists, including iCloud support to keep stations up to date on all your iOS devices. The app also now includes a redesigned “Now Playing” view that shows playback controls, as pictured in the screenshots above....
Yesterday news broke that Apple was reportedly going to shut down its newly purchased Beats Music streaming service which Apple quickly dismissed as false although it does sound like changes for the brand and service are in the works as you might expect. Re/code’s John Paczkowski shared today that such a rebrand could be slated for February: With Apple currently maintaining a streaming music service branded as iTunes Radio and a separate on-demand music service branded as Beats Music, it’s not hard to believe that the service is due for some reworking under Apple’s ownership....
In a new Apple Newsroom report, the company has shared how a group of ten students from Hollywood High School were able to create short films on tight budgets with Apple products. The students worked alongside creative professionals and Apple retail experts in a month-long film-making project. Apple also says that it worked with two other independent movie studios, We Make Movies and Mobile Film Classroom. During a two-week long post-production period, the students met with special guests and mentors from around the industry who gave them critical feedback on their work....
Following our report that Apple would be rolling out an updated Apple Store app today, the company has just updated the iPhone app to Version 2.7. The updated app includes several performance improvements, one of which brings improved product search capabilities. Apple is also working on a feature that would display offers to download free content to users while in the App Store, but it’s unclear if this version of the app includes that functionality....
What’s happened is that the new iPod touch and iPod nano models – fine though they are – are sadly incompatible with some iPod peripherals. What’s worse is that the feature manifests itself in the form of many older iPod gadgets being unable to re-charge your Apple music player. And the devices these new iPods aren’t compatible with aren’t your common old garden $10 cases and odd little leads – these are expensive systems, such as the Numark iDJ (first edition), some extremely expensive speaker systems (better than the iPod hifi, thank you), in-car iPod recharging devices, including the phenomenally popular Griffin iTrip and more…....

A pair of reports today explain that Apple customers across in Singapore are noticing a high number of fraudulent credit card charges being made via iTunes. According to the Channel NewsAsia, Apple has said it is investigating the complaints, but specifics remain unclear… The report explains that “dozens” of Apple customers have recently experienced fraudulent charges on their iTunes account. Two people said that they had at least $5,000 (S$7,000) drained from their bank accounts through iTunes purchases....
