Tomorrow’s the day Apple finally unwraps everything it’s been working on leading up to its September iPhone event. Though the past weekend’s leaks have unveiled a ton of information, there is still plenty to be revealed. With that in mind, what are you most excited to see? The past few months have provided us with a ton of Apple hardware and software news. From early reports of a “bezel-less” design to the device’s supposed lack of Touch ID....

Some iOS and OS X app developers may remember that a shiny new bug reporter tool (known by some as Radar) briefly went live before this year’s WWDC. The bug reporter allows users to submit bugs to Apple that are found in Apple’s operating systems, applications, and services. The new design was faster and a much needed new coat of paint. However, it was bound with several bugs and pulled after a couple of days....

Making the rounds on Twitter recently has been a video of a smoking iPhone 7 Plus. The video, shared by Brianna Olivas, shows the device burning to the point that the case is melting away and smoke is erupting from the side of the device. Now, Apple has responded to the viral video… In a brief statement to Mashable, an Apple spokesperson said that the company has been in touch with Olivas and is investigating....

As it worked on building out its Apple News+ subscription service, Apple purchased the digital magazine company Texture in March last year. Now we’ve got a firm date when Apple will officially shut down Texture, which means Android users will unfortunately be out of luck. As reported by TechCrunch, Apple will close down Texture on May 28. It previously killed off the Windows version of Texture last year, and now the iOS and Android version will also be shut down....

Apple’s giant new Dubai Apple Store at the Mall of the Emirates has officially opened its doors today as scheduled. Angela Ahrendts, Apple’s head of retail, tweeted the photo above showing the new store’s staff that will be able to “serve in 26 languages.” Ahrendts previously shared multiple photos showing off Apple’s latest flagship retail stores (below) in Dubai and Abu Dhabi which both open today. Dubai’s store launch follows several years of effort to bring the Apple store experience to the region....

According to a message posted on the company’s retail website, Apple will temporarily close their Green Hills store in Nashville, Tennessee on February 11th. Apple has been continuously refreshing their nearly 500 retail locations with an updated store design since rolling out the new strategy in the fall of 2015. “We’re making the Apple Store you love even lovelier” reads the message posted on the store page for Apple Green Hills....

Apple has updated its official iTunes Movie Trailers app for iPhone, iPad, and iPod touch with some nice enhancements for video playback and movie ticket purchasing integration: Apple now allows users to manually select between SD and HD video playback (which could help depending on your internet connection), and the update also promises to make playback begin more quickly. Perhaps most notably, the new app update integrates Fandango for movie ticket purchasing....

Earlier this month, we noted that Apple’s retail location in the Southlake Town Square would be closing for renovations on March 4th. Now, a new render of the proposed changes to the site sheds a little more light on Apple’s expansion plans. In a photo published by the Community Impact Newspaper (via Storeteller), the signature design elements of Apple’s recent retail stores are clearly visible, starting with a floor to ceiling glass facade, exterior trees, seating, and a low profile, flat roof....

A new report claims that Apple is in talks with Japan Display to help finance an LCD display factory in Ishikawa next year. The exact details of the agreement are still in flux, but Apple is said to be considering an investment of somewhere around 200 billion yen (or just under $1.7 billion). The factory would churn out the same types of low-temperature polycrystalline silicon displays that are currently used in the iPhone 6 and 6 Plus....

Apple has announced this year’s summit for its Made-for-iPhone/iPad/iPod accessory program will take place Nov. 12-14 in China. The event will focus on briefing accessory manufacturers on HomeKit, iBeacon, and other new technologies coming in iOS 8. Apple certainly has a lot to brief accessory makers on this year. Earlier this year we were first to report on Apple’s plans to allow headphone manufacturers to use its Lightning connector for sending audio and other unique features, while iOS 8 launching this fall with the new iPhones introduces HomeKit, Health, and a ton of new features related to iBeacon, Bluetooth, and AirPlay that accessory makers will undoubtedly want to tap into....

Ad Age reports that Apple is planning to hire as many as four new digital ad agencies. Evidence presented in the latest Samsung-Apple lawsuit earlier this week revealed that Phil Schiller, the Cupertino company’s SVP of marketing, was shaken up by Samsung’s recent ad campaign and furious with Media Arts Lab, Apple’s current advertising company, to the point that he considered finding a new ad firm. The four companies being considered for addition to the company’s lineup include Huge, AKQA, Area 17, and Kettle, according to the report....

Apple has begun rolling out macOS 10.12.3 beta 2 to developers. Sierra 10.12.2 brought in new emoji, wallpapers, graphics & System Integrity Protection fixes, and the removal of the system battery’s estimated ‘time remaining’ feature. This second seed of macOS Sierra 10.2.3 beta is available on the developer center and rolling out to the Mac App Store now with a size of 1.04GB. Developer’s looking to join the beta can find the access they need from the official developer page....

UPDATE: Apple has removed all mentions of this feature from its Australian website. Possibly hinting that the feature was accidentally published. In addition to the slew of new education features highlighted this morning, Apple seems to be preparing a new simplified login experience for education users, as first noted by David Colville. According to Apple’s Australian education page, the company is planning to build a “simplified login experience” which will let both teachers and students “log in to iPad, Mac, iCloud, iTunes U and Classbook” with their existing Google or Microsoft accounts, bypassing a need for an Apple ID altogether....

Apple announced that its MagSafe tech is back with the iPhone 12 lineup but there have been some lingering questions about some of the planned accessories. Apple has temporarily ceased filling ad slots in iPad apps for children with adverts from advertisers that participate in Apple’s advertising network dubbed iAd. MacStories pointed at an email message developer Mike Zornek received from the iAds team. Zornek, who is behind Dex, a free Pokèmon browser app for iPhone, published contents of the message on his blog. Emailing Apple over iAd fill rates in his app which dropped to a single-digit territory, he got this response:...

Apple has officially announced that its new retail store in Marseille, France will open May 14 with the usual announcement on its website (via MacGeneration). The new retail store, located at the Les Terrasses du Port shopping mall, is Apple’s 20th location in France. That’s if including the shop within Galeries Lafayette that it opened last year as one of several boutique locations for sales of the Apple Watch. Apple is also planning other retail stores for the country including a high-profile flagship location on Champs-Élysées in Paris....

Apple has responded to Greenlight Capital’s proposal regarding the issuing of preferred stock, and the stock market has reacted extremely favorably (above): Greenlight Capital founder David Einhorn appeared on “Squawk Box” today to defend his decision to file suit in New York federal court against Apple over a proposal, dubbed “Proposal 2,” that would allegedly stamp out preferred stock in the company’s proxy, claiming the proposal does not adhere to regulatory rules…...
